How to have peace of mind through Bible?
Peace of mind through Bible
If you love someone truly, you will do exactly what that person tells you to do.
Sometimes even without questioning. That’s what true love is about! The one who cares for you! The one who loves you! One who is interested in your well being will always say right things for you.
So you needn’t hesitate. You merely need to choose a line of Jesus and observe his teachings because he loves you, he cares for you and he is interested in your future.
We see this in the life of St. Francis of Assisi. For Francis, loving God was of utmost importance. He loved Jesus so much that he observed his teaching to the core.
As described in life of St. Francis, one biographer said, “something like acting straight from the scripture”. Every teachings of Jesus formed the visibility in the life and actions of St. Francis.
Love, you know well is not an abstract concept. Love is real. Love is concrete and concrete love is what faithfulness is! Faithfulness is another word for love.
Love and faithfulness go together. Love flows from faithfulness.
Love grows through faithfulness. If I say I love Jesus I need to show it by way of faithful life to Jesus that I live on this earth. It’s not enough for us to have lip service to say I love Jesus.
If you love Jesus you need to show it in your life and in action. That is inculcating his words in your life.
That is observing his teachings. Jesus very beautifully sums up the entire teachings of Old Testament and his own teaching in his own commandments - Love your God with all your heart, with your mind, with all your soul and strength and love your neighbor as your own self.
It is by following these teachings in our life we say how much we love Jesus.
If you don’t have regard for God’s word and his teachings in your life and if you do not bother to alter your life according to the Gospel, if you are not attentive to the teachings Jesus provides you then it is clear that you do not love Jesus.
And in such situations of unfaithfulness, liturgical participation and the celebration of Eucharist remains as a mere ritual fulfillment that does not touch the core of your being; to the extent that it does not transforms you to be a person in the world that Jesus wants you to be.
Therefore, in our everyday situations of life, in our ordinary relationships with one another, in our family and with people outside, our conduct, our personal life, and in our professional life we need to show love for Jesus and that we do so following Gospel’s principals.
How do I make a dwelling place for God?
We need to be worthy of God’s dwelling place. It is a task of making my heart worthy for God to come and dwell in me.
We can do so in our everyday life by following Jesus‘s teachings. Thus, if there is any strain of unfaithfulness to Jesus, and if there is disregard for what Bible gives us as principals of life, it’s time we change ourselves so that God can find home in us. We’ll find Jesus living in us. We’ll be able to find Jesus not only in our life but in our surroundings as well.
A helper to guide us!
In order to help us to keep Jesus’s word persistently; we need a guide or a counsellor. So God is so kind and concerned about us that he has given us Holy Spirit! And the Holy Spirit because our guide and counsellor.
Jesus said, he will send us the Holy Spirit. We through the reception of Holy sacrament like baptism, Holy Communion and confirmation we have been made one with the Holy Spirit - the spirit of God!
He knew us even before we were born in our mother’s womb!
The fact that God knew us even before we were born in our mother’s womb is a sign that God has restored us with his spirit.
Therefore, each one of us is gifted with the Holy Spirit! The possession of Holy Spirit and having someone who always guides us is really wonderful.
Holy Spirit is present everywhere! He prompts us to take right course of action in our lives, someone who helps us to take the right decision and right path; is indeed an incredible gift from God.
It is upon us not to rush in any choice or decision; but take a step back and see what God wants us to do. We are adults.
We need no one to tell us what is right and wrong. But we have a Christian conscience and the knowledge of what is right and wrong is given to us and it is rooted deep within us.
We need to listen to the suggestions of our Holy Spirit order to take a right course of action.
We are keeping Jesus’s words and thus we are showing how much we love him. We celebrate the feast of Pentecost.
Pentecost is the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and therefore, when we come up to that phase we need to be little more conscious about God’s spirit in us.
When voice of God’s spirit talks to you close your eyes; silence your mind and look deep within yourself and listen to Holy Spirit’s voice; that is God’s voice which is undeniably present in each one of us. See how you can alter your life according to the Spirit’s voice.
Jesus is the prince of peace
During his time on each we see how he gave that peace to everyone who asked him. Jesus also says in the Gospel – “I will bring you peace”.
He say’s I will give you my peace. And this peace Jesus distinguishes from being different from the peace that the world gives you.
Why Jesus does distinguish his peace from the peace of this world?
Jesus distinguishes peace of this world and the peace that he gives for the simple reason being that the world can be redefined with him.
Monetary benefits can be offered to obtain temporary peace. Gaining a power of position in the society, acquiring and possessing wealth can be positioned as peace as well.
But we know that this is not an everlasting peace but merely transitory passing of peace. This peace is not what Jesus wants us to have. Hence, securing the peace which the master promises is utmost important.
Is absence of peace the root cause of all problems?
Peace does not mean absence of day to day problems. Look at the very basic life of Jesus himself! He faced severe opposition from the Chief priest.
These priests and Pharisees did not let him to give peace without creating trouble and harassing him constantly.
He had to face opposition day in and day out. Deep within he had this realization and conviction that he was doing the will of the father and in everything that he was doing he was pleasing God the father and that realization and living a life of fulfilling God’s will.
He found peace and even though in the world he had to face problems externally, deep within him he had that peace; the Holy Spirit. And this Spirit he wants to give us.
Do not be afraid or be bothered
In the Gospel Jesus says do not be distressed, do not be fearful. We are always bothered with something or the other.
Something which we are afraid off, and so Jesus gives you this assurance – do not be distressed and do not be fearful. Cast all your worries and anxiety on him for he cares for you!
So let’s surrender all that bothers us to Jesus and then let’s make a resolve that we will do what we can and show him our faithfulness.
Keeping his word, listening to the promptings and of the Holy Spirit will bring us closer to God. God says – listen to me and keep my words. So let’s not waste the Holy words of God!
Conclusion
At the end of the day you want to have peace and a good night’s sleep. You want to have a heart that is content. You will realize peace if you are convinced that this life is a gift from God and whatever you do in this life is to please him.
You do that according to his teachings and the trust you have in him. When that happens, you will find peace which he promises. You will experience that peace and you will radiate that peace.
